Our Probe for Sediment and Environmental Surveying in the Field
When measuring the water depth and determining shallow depths with fathometers, the inherent consistency of the sediment deposits cannot be determined. If it is fluid mud, however, this is not fundamentally an obstacle for save navigation. In many cases, even consolidated mud can be converted back into low density navigable fluid mud using appropriate dredging technology. Corresponding methods are environmentally friendly, cost-saving and may also improve the sediment quality in the long term.
For such technical implementation, comparably small dredging equipment is required, which may also be operated with low technical and personnel effort. Such dredging devices can easily be equipped with our measuring technology so that mud shoals can be removed by uptake or controlled in situ liquefaction without environmentally harmful resuspension of sediment particles into the water column. With our ultrasound monitoring tool the dredging process can be continously adapted to the composition of the sediment material to avoid excess uptake of water which will also reduce dewatering efforts afterwards for a beneficial use of the dredge material. Our measuring technology is also suitable to control corresponding post processing measures.
So our service includes all relevant steps required for a reliable change to sustainable maintenance dredging and sediment management:
• Determining present dredging needs to guarantee sufficient nautical depth.
• The creation of a dredging strategy for its long lasting preservation.
• The compilation of all therefor needed technical components and related environmental quality monitoring.
• The implementation of maintenance strategies for a sustainable reduction of dredging efforts
